Twisted pair: Twisted pair is when you a pair of insulated wire are twisted together. This is done to prevent as much data loss as possible. Twisting the pair of wires does this as it stop data jumping between to the pair of wires which would result in the data become jumble and the original meaning of the data will be lost. Unshielded twisted pair(UTP): This is the first type of TP(twisted pair) cable. in unshielded twisted pair there is not shielding around the wires but instead there are only the four pairs of insulated wires that are surrounded by a plastic sheeth. Shielded twisted pair(STP): This is the second of TP(twisted pair) cable. This one like the name implies has shileding around not only each one of the four pair of wires(The pair shield) but also there is another shiled around all four of the shield wire (This is called the cable sheeth).
